October 2, 2008 Dear Faculty and Staff:

The Professional/Technical Tutoring Program (funded by the Carl Perkins Grant) is currently located in the F.O.S.S. Building room 5204, ext 7852, e-mail tcosta@shoreline.edu or pttutors@shoreline.edu.  The Transfer Student Tutoring Program (funded by Student Body Association fees) is also located in F.O.S.S. room 5201 ext 4776, e-mail tutors@shoreline.edu.  Please come by, visit and ask about the services these programs can provide for you and your students.

The Perkins Grant funds individual tutoring as well as assists in funding the Math Learning Center (MLC) and The Writing & Learning Studio (TWLS).  The grant also funds the VCT, BUSTC, BIO/SCI and CHEM study centers.  The Transfer Student Tutoring Program funds transfer students as well and the Physics Study Center.

The Tutoring Program staff, one full-time and three hourly employees, and approximately 160 tutors are committed to providing outstanding customer service to all students. In Fiscal Year 08 the Professional/Technical and Transfer Tutoring Programs combined to assist students by making 1240 individual tutoring assignments and assisted over 750 students in study centers and labs.

The most important role of the Shoreline Community College Tutoring Program is to ensure that each and every student has equal access to the full range of services provided by Shoreline Community College and the community at large.  If you know of a student who could use assistance please direct them to the appropriate office.
