Robert Shields (Bob) has been teaching computer classes for over 20 years and started at Shoreline Community College in 1998. He teaches computer applications, programming, networks, operating systems, HTML, JavaScript, project management and circus performance. Bob enjoys advising the Fencing club and working on a several campus wide committees, for example, International Programs Advisory Committee, Sabbatical Selection Committee, tenure committees, and new hire screening committees.

Dr. Shields began his technical career at Bell Laboratories by assessing and improving the usability of computer network connection tools. At Bank of America, he managed the development and deployment of a national electronic funds transfer system. University teaching in Japan and China gave him skills in multicultural and multinational dynamics as well as expanding his base of technological approaches. As part of a cross-functional team at Aldus Corporation, Dr. Shields pioneered electronic commerce and information delivery efforts on the first multiple product CD-ROMs. At Aldus he also managed the installation and operation of their first automated customer survey system. More recently he has designed information systems that collect financial, demographic, and transaction data to produce information supporting a variety of business operations.
